KKoh Chang is the largest Island set in the Koh Chang marine national park.  In the high season, the archipelago affords us the opportunity to spend wonderful days kayaking to and between its stunning Islands and beaches.  Once the high season is over and the low season creeps in, is where the fun starts.  Gone are the calm seas, in their place we have weather generated seas, with waves and conditions that are perfect for developing our kayaking skills.  This is why on

August  7th – 11th and August 14th – 18th 2017

In conjunction with these wonderful conditions, Kayak Chang are proud to offer our annual sea kayaking symposium.

Whether you are a novice or an aspirant 4 Star Sea Kayaking leader, our symposium has something for you.  Our BCU coaches, are highly skilled and qualified, and as such will be on hand to guide, coach, push and develop your kayaking at a pace that suits you. The range of sessions, include practical on the water sessions, lectures, workshops and evening presentations. Our symposium is the only one of its kind in South East Asia and as such attracts a lot of interest, however, we only have sufficient kayaks and equipment to accommodate 10 people per week.

1-4 Star BCU training and assessment

As part of the symposium we will be running extended BCU star award programmes (up to 5 days) including 1, 2, 3 and 4 star training and assessment.

BCU 3 Star Sea Training and Assessment (5 days)

Successful performance at this level indicates that a candidate can consider themselves as an able improving sea paddler rather than a beginner. During assessment the candidate would be able to demonstrate personal competence paddling in wind conditions of no more than Beaufort Force 3 or Sea State 3 as part of a led group.Read more (pdf)

BCU 4 Star Sea Kayak Leader Training (5 days)

To achieve BCU 4 Star Sea Kayak Leader candidates are required to attend BCU 4 Star Sea Kayak Leader Training. This involves at least 2 days of formal training in personal skills, leadership, and safety and rescue. Some training courses also include the prerequisite BCU Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning course (extending the programme by an additional day). Training is valid for 3 years, during this time, and upon completion of the assessment prerequisites, candidates can then put themselves forward for assessment.Read more (pdf)
